Warsaw Winter Reading

On Thursday, December 8th volunteers traveled one hour southeast in rough winter weather to read with kids at the Warsaw Head Start program.   They also delivered 370 books for the entire Cattaraugus & Wyoming Counties Head Start program- servicing five centers in the WNY region.  In preparation for the event, the books were stamped, tied with a ribbon and loaded in the car.   Great job volunteers and GO! Springville Surprise

On December 3rd, Trading Post Community Care Center in Springville New York received 100 gifts for their kids, as part of their Annual Holiday Giving Tree event.  The Trading Post services the entire Springville community, providing clothing, food and supplies for all families in need, and so much more.  The center is always busy.  KDWT Ambassador Catherine helped to wrap gifts for all the kids.   Thanks to Debbie and staff for your commitment to service and doing all that you do for the Springville community!  Happy Holidays!!!

 

 

Celebrating Family Volunteer Day

KDWT WNY Team celebrated Family Volunteer Day for Ohana100's GO! READ Project. Volunteers helped to prepare gifts to benefit over 1500 kids from 15 community programs in need throughout the Western New York Region.  Volunteers stamped and tied ribbons on each brand new book.

KDWT for the 3rd year, adopted 2 families in need of support each year during the holidays. Jim from the Clarence Food Pantry was present this day to pick up the gifts for each family.

Books & Authors

Ohana100 participated in the WNY Children's Book EXPO on Sunday, November 6th.  For the second year, Ohana100 donated books for this event to promote the importance of literacy for children.  Kids from all over the region, Pennsylvania and even Canada attended this event.

GO! READ Ambassadors Catherine and Sally met Doreen Cronin who authored "CLICK CLACK MOO", a book that they read often to children. 

Founder Monkey See Monkey Do held their annual event at the Kleihans Music Hall that featured 36 authors.  It was an amazing event! Congrats to Kim, Kathy & Staff for doing such an amazing job! GO! READ MSMD

"MAHALO" to the kids from the Clarence Youth Bureau for being part of our Ohana100 Team this day.  They worked very hard to make sure that each child left with a book of their own. GO! READ CYB

Big Aloha To Newfane Kids

Many programs in New York were preparing for end of school and our Ohana100 volunteers made sure that some children in Newfane got books to take home to read for the summer.  

On Tuesday, June 14th Newfane Elementary Kindergarteners were very excited to meet with our seniors for story time.  

Our seniors received a warm ALOHA from students at the Newfane Early Childcare Center.  Students showed their appreciation for our volunteers by wearing flower leis they made.

Third Graders with a VISION of Kindness

On Wednesday, June 8th, 2016 3rd Graders at Miss Vision's Class at Westminister Charter school were gifted with free books to take home for the summer.  The students helped Ohana100 to write letters for kids in Cuba about what its like to live in Buffalo.  They also helped to make book marks for kids in Sierra Leon.   Thank you Ms. Vision's 3rd Graders for making a difference! Servicing Children in LaFargeville

On Saturday, June 4th, 2016 Ohana100 awarded Orleans Outreach Center in Jefferson County with 200 new books to gift to the children they service in the community.  The center has been operating since 1989 and functions as a food pantry and clothing room.  It is solely managed by volunteers.   KDWT Ambassadors of Catherine Mattson and Amelia Lovell helped to deliver books.

Big Surprise for Bolivar-Richburg Students

On Tuesday, May 3rd  volunteers traveled 2 hours south to deliver 800 books to Bolivar-Richburg Elementary School.  Every student from the school, grades PreK to 5th received a new book and over 340 gently used books were donated to help build their school library.   GO! READ Bolivar- Richburg

The GO! READ Challenge recognized 16 students for their hard work and determination in reading this year. The teachers helped to identify those students. "CONGRATULATIONS to our "GO! Readers".  KEEP UP THE GREAT WORK!!

To celebrate TEACHERS APPRECIATION DAY, all students cheered "THANK YOU" to all the teachers.  Kindergarteners were treated to story time with our senior volunteer. The kids enjoyed the stories and were great listeners.  GO! READ Kindergartners
