On Thursday, December 8th KDWT Ambassador Catherine and other volunteers traveled one hour southeast in rough winter weather to read with kids at the Warsaw Head Start program. They also delivered 370 books for the entire Cattaraugus & Wyoming Counties Head Start program- servicing five centers in the WNY region. In preparation for the event, the books were stamped, tied with a ribbon and loaded in the car. Great job volunteers and GO! READ CATWY HS Kids
Springville Surprise
On December 3rd, Trading Post Community Care Center in Springville New York received gifts for their 100 kids, as part of their Annual Holiday Giving Tree event. The Trading Post services the entire Springville community, providing clothing, food and supplies for all families in need, and so much more. The center is always busy. KDWT Ambassador Catherine helped to wrap gifts for all the kids. Thanks to Debbie and staff for your commitment to service and doing all that you do for the Springville community! Happy Holidays!!!
Family Volunteer Day Celebration
All of KDWT HAWAII Ohana celebrated Family Volunteer Day by preparing holiday gifts for 30 programs throughout the State of Hawaii for over 1,000 kids. Thank you to James, Bell and Ms. Karen S. for donating a combined total of over 160 new stuffed animals as part of the holiday gifts to kids. Mahalo to all our Ohana (Ancheta, Andres, Bantolina, Cacatian, Fines, Ilar, Kaaiwela, Pachico, Peralta, Scharfenstein, Soriano, and Sullivan) for putting together such beautiful and amazing gifts and for being part of this special day!
KDWT WNY Team celebrated Family Volunteer Day for Ohana100's GO! READ Project. Volunteers stamped and tied a ribbon on each brand new book to benefit over 1,500 kids from 15 community programs in need throughout the Western New York Region.
KDWT for the 3rd year, adopted 2 families in need of support each year during the holidays. Jim from the Clarence Food Pantry was present this day to pick up the gifts for each family.

2016 Honoring Veterans
KDWT honored veterans of the American Legion Auxiliary Post 838 of Clarence, NY by making over 150 cupcakes for their Annual Veteran's Day Luncheon at the Clarence Senior Center.
KDWT honored veterans in our neighborhood: Mr. Loni with U.S. Marines, Mr. Joe and Mr. Vince with the U.S. Navy. KDWT Ambassador Catherine interviewed with WWII Combat and purple heart recipient Veteran Harold Entice for a Veterans History Project.

KDWT Ambassador Catherine helped to stamp books and make book marks for the 2nd Annual WNY Children's Books EXPO in Buffalo, New York.
The expo featured over 30 authors. Kids from all over the WNY Region-Rochester and Springville, Pennsylvania and even Canada attended this event.
Catherine met "CLICK CLACK MOO" author Doreen Cronin. This is one of Catherine's favorite story to read to children for Ohana100's GO! READ project. Catherine met with other amazing authors.

Annual Apple Festival & Make A Difference Day
On Saturday October 22nd, KDWT Ambassadors participated in the Annual Apple Festival. They helped to promote the work of Ohana100- promoting literacy and they also helped to raise funds to purchase books for the Friends of Family Support Services Program- to support children of reservist stationed abroad.
Hawaii Beach Park Clean Up Project
On Saturday, October 22 Make A Difference Day, KDWT Kids in Hawaii started their local Beach Park/Neighborhood Clean Up campaign around the Island of Oahu at Oneula Beach Park in Ewa Beach. Great Job Kids! Keep Our Beaches Clean!!! GO! GREEN

SCARECROWS & KINDNESS
On Saturday, September 24th KDWT worked with the Clarence Youth Bureau at the Clarence Hollow Scarecrow Festival. Together they helped with pumpkin decoration, making a scarecrow, face painting and helped to get kids to share their thoughts on what kindness means to them.
KDWT Reads Around Oahu
KDWT Ambassador Catherine read to kids around the Island of Oahu during the month of August and early September. She shared the importance of reading everyday and everywhere. Below: Catherine read to kids on the east side of the island at Koko Head HS. Just as the story was getting exciting, an alarm went off that cut story time. No worries! Catherine read to Mokapu El 2nd Graders and KMCB HS on the Windward side. She read to kids Kaewai, Puuhale EL and KPT PACT kids in Kalihi. While on the Leeward Coast, she read to Kaimiloa EL HS and Waipahu Community HS and Kaimiloa HS.
With our GO! READ project, Catherine dedicated part of her summer to promoting literacy. She helped to prep and organize book distributions. She also read to over 500 kids since the beginning of the 2016. She hopes to expand her reach and read to more kids on the other Hawaiian Islands and to kids in New York. Great Job Catherine! GO! Free Books for St. Lawrence Children
KDWT ambassadors helped to deliver 100 books to the St. Lawrence Children's Clinic in Buffalo on Wednesday, August 31st. The clinic has been a recipient of free books from Ohana100 for the past 2 years. GO! READ St. Lawrence Kids
Celebrating Senior Citizens
On Sunday, August 21st KDWT Ambassadors celebrated National Senior Citizens Day with Ilima at Leihano seniors. To celebrate this special day, KDWT Ambassadors presented each Senior Citizen with a fresh flower lei. There was a solo guitarist, singing and dancing. Staff at Ilima joined in on the dance too.
Visit 2 Kauai Programs
On Thursday, August 18th KDWT Ambassador Catherine traveled with the Ohana100 Team to the island of Kauai. Kauai Child & Family Services Program and King Kaumualii Elementary were the first recipients on the Island to receive books from Ohana100. KDWT Ambassador read to 100 2nd=graders at Kaumualii. GO! KDWT Ambassador Catherine continues the distribution of books to the Mary Jane House (MJ House) and PACT- Big Island for the second year, visiting the programs on August 17.

On Wednesday August 17th volunteers visited the Women & Children's Hospital of Buffalo (WCHOB). Over 100 books were donated for the children. Volunteers stamped books in preparation for the visit and senior volunteer Sally read to the young patients. GO! READ WCHOB

On Monday, August 15th KDWT helped to prepare books for Maui, Molokai and Lanai kids. KDWT Ambassador Catherine made sure that the books were in possession of volunteer pilot Mr. Joe at the Honolulu International Airport. She helped to get the books into his hanger. Thank You Mr. Joe for being part of our Ohana100 Team and helping to get books to kids on the neighbor islands!
First Fall Giving
On Wednesday, August 11th Kalakaua MS jump started the school year and rallied their kids to get excited about reading with their AR Program. Mr. Hamilton ignited the room with the reading battle between grade levels. For the 2nd year, Ohana100 has provided free new books to help support their AR program. As part of our GO! Honor & Remember Our Military Servicemen
KDWT ambassadors spent the afternoon at the National Memorial Cemetery of the Pacific honoring and remembering those who served and sacrificed their lives for our country. Punchbowl Crater is where over 53,000 WWI, WWII, Korean War and Vietnam War Veterans and dependents lay to rest. It was a special day!!!

Ohana100 Adult and Youth (KDWT Ambassadors) volunteers met to plan for Fall activities for the new school year. KDWT stamped books for upcoming Fall Book Givings in Hawaii.
